Lil Baby was born Dominique Jones on December 3, 1994 in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in the city’s Fourth Ward and attended Booker T. Washington High School. He began rapping in his early teens and was inspired by the likes of Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, and T.I. He released his first mixtape, Perfect Timing, in 2017. The mixtape featured the hit single “My Dawg”, which peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2018, Lil Baby released his debut studio album, Harder Than Ever. The album featured the hit singles “Yes Indeed” and “Drip Too Hard”, both of which peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
