Netta Barzilai is an Israeli singer and songwriter who rose to fame after winning the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Toy”. Born in Hod HaSharon, Israel in 1993, Netta began her musical career at a young age, performing in various choirs and musicals. She studied music at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and later attended the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

In 2017, Netta auditioned for the fifth season of the Israeli version of The Voice, where she was mentored by Israeli singer and judge, Ivri Lider. She made it to the semi-finals, but was eliminated before the finals. Despite her elimination, Netta’s performance on the show gained her a large following and she was invited to represent Israel in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

For the Eurovision Song Contest, Netta chose to perform her song “Toy”, which she co-wrote with Doron Medalie and Stav Beger. The song was an instant hit, and Netta’s performance was praised for its energy and originality. She won the contest with 529 points, making her the fourth Israeli to win the Eurovision Song Contest.

Following her win, Netta released her debut EP, Netta, which featured her Eurovision Song Contest winning song “Toy”. The EP was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Israeli Albums Chart and number two on the US World Albums Chart. Netta has since released several singles, including “Bassa Sababa”, “Nana Banana”, and “Cuckoo”.
