Founded in 1979, NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, with over 500,000 members and 1,200 affiliates in communities across the United States.

NAMI’s mission is to provide support, education, and advocacy to individuals and families affected by mental illness. To accomplish this, NAMI offers a variety of programs and services, including support groups, educational classes, and public awareness campaigns. NAMI also works to reduce stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness, and to promote access to quality mental health care.

NAMI also offers educational classes, such as the Family-to-Family program, which provides information and support to family members of individuals living with mental illness.
